The 2017 ACC/AHA Guideline redefined hypertension as blood pressure ≥130/80 mmHg, lowering the threshold from the previous ≥140/90 mmHg. The guideline introduced new risk-based treatment strategies emphasizing lifestyle modification and pharmacotherapy to more aggressively prevent cardiovascular events.
