The 2018 ACC Expert Consensus provided the first integrated decision pathway for using SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP-1 receptor agonists for cardiovascular risk reduction in patients with type 2 diabetes and established atherosclerotic disease, heart failure, or chronic kidney disease.
