This commentary accompanies evidence suggesting that persistent severe hypertriglyceridaemia in familial and multifactorial chylomicronaemia syndromes may contribute to glomerular nephropathy, representing a previously unrecognised clinical complication.

## Abstract (original, from the publication)

Through a cross-sectional review of two independent cohorts of patients with familial or multifactorial chylomicronemia syndrome (FCS or MCS) who were treated at two independent referral centers, the authors suggest that persistent and severe hypertriglyceridemia (sHTG) may be a contributing factor to the development of glomerular nephropathy [1].
