Slappe verlamming en tetanie na chemotherapie: een diagnostische uitdaging

A 75-year-old woman with cervical carcinoma that had spread through the lymph nodes and to other nearby tissues was admitted for emergency evaluation because of a rapid deterioration in her condition. She had no history of kidney disease, with a baseline creatinine of 70.4 μmol/l (0.8 mg/dl) and an estimated glomerular filtration rate >60 ml/min per 1.73 m2. Her presentation occurred 4 days after she had received her fifth cycle of cisplatin chemotherapy, administered at a dose of 40 mg/m2 per cycle for a cumulative dose of 200 mg/m2.
